Here we go again. We are faced with a choice for the leader of the free world and once again all the hypocritical arguments are resurfacing again. "Abortion Rights" or "Right to life" Big Government vs. Smaller Government., "Reformer, Maverick, Ethics" etc.
All new polls show what they always show in a year of Presidential elections. For all the talk of unity we as a nation are divided primarily along ideological lines. When will we start to understand this one truth?
"What God gives mankind knowledge of He makes mankind responsible for".
Sarah Palin is a born again believer as am I, but I have learned over time that "wisdom is the principle thing therefore get wisdom, but with all thy getting, get an understanding." (proverbs 4:7)
We all know that fornication is a sin, yet the vast majority us have committed fornication. Those of us who may not have had children were either educated about birth control or lucky not to have any unplanned pregnancies while we were still young and getting our educations.
Sarah Palin's daughter has a wonderful two parent family and I'm sure they will assist her in raising a wonderful child even if she and the young man don't marry. I don't care what one believes, no one should be forced into a marriage they aren't ready for. That could be far more damaging than having that child raised by people who are spiritually and menatlly mature enough to handle all the joys challenges that come with raising a child. But the truth is that the vast majority of young parents don't have that blessing to depend on. They are young, often poor, uneducated or undereducated from single parent homes themselves. Telling children in situations like that "God will make a way" or "God will bless you for having this child" without providing real , honest long term support is more than just hypocricy it is evil.
The Apostle James said " What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. " .."As the body without the sprit is dead, so then faith without works is dead" (James 2:15-17)
Here is the solution. Either teach these children about birth control so they don't have to make a life altering decision about having a child or aborting a child. (Either decision they make will affect them for the rest of their lives. ) Or we agree to allow our taxes to be used to expand the welfare/prison system, because far too many of these unwanted children will end up in social services or jail. Sure there are exeptions to the rule, such as Senator Obama, who against all odds, excels, but more often than not, these children will end up on welfare of some type and far too many will grow up and end up in jail or some other criminal activity.
We can't have it both ways. We can't say cut these programs and save our taxes, while at the same time denying the education necessary to prevent unplanned pregnancies. We can't say we want a smaller government but keep encouraging children to have children they aren't prepared to have. This kind of logic is futile at best. Then we argue with one another about what this child should do with thier child. While we are arguing, too many of our children are falling through the cracks.
We have been yelling at each other for too long. That isn't God-like either.
Christ went into a town and the people were afraid of Him and begged Him to leave. Peter and the disciples asked Christ "Lord should we call down fire to consume these people as Elijah did?" Chirst immediately rebuked them and said "You don't know what spirit you are of!!! I came to save men's lives not to destroy them!!!'" (Luke 9:51-54)
So those of us who have good intentions who believe we should bomb clinics or berate those who don't believe what we believe, we must be careful that after we have taught and believed that we are not found to be cast aways ourselves.
We are being held responsible for the knowledge we have. We say we believe God and we should, yet if we get a diagnosis that we have cancer, most of us will accept whatever treatment a physician prescribes to treat the disease. We have knowledge of birth control but we won't tell our children. I know what the church teaches. My father and uncles are all pastors, rabbis, some are even Catholic. But until those entities are ready to pay the bill for all these unplanned children ( as John says we MUST do) we had better teach these kids abstinence as well as birth control.
"What God has given mankind knowledge of He makes mankind responsible for."
